Overview

Start a volatility-based stop where you choose.

After adding the script, click the candle and price where you want the stop illustration to begin. Place a long stop below price or a short stop above it. A draggable start marker lets you revise the point; its time and price can also be edited in settings.

ATR measures recent price range and provides a volatility-based distance for the plotted stop. This chart overlay does not place a real stop order.

Following the stop

A trailing level, not a promise of protection.

The plotted stop follows its selected ATR settings. The publication notes that the actionable trailing value is based on the prior candle’s ATR value. You can change the ATR length, multiplier, and averaging method, and choose whether a wick or a close triggers the stop condition.

An optional profit target can be defined by price or a risk/reward ratio. The target’s display ends when its condition is met, but the trailing-stop path can continue until its own stop condition is met.

Alerts

Watch stop and target events.

Enable stop-hit or target-hit alerts in the indicator settings, then create the TradingView alert. Message placeholders can include the trailing price, target, ticker, timeframe, start time, and selected inputs.

Alerts and plotted levels are informational. A live order may behave differently because of gaps, slippage, execution rules, and the precise intrabar path.
