Is SPY's own price stretched?
A negative Rank suggests SPY is stretched downward (oversold). This reading does not compare SPY with another stock.

TanHef Ranks Screener
Screener automatically creates a price ratio for each pair and calculates its Rank to show overbought or oversold strength. Total Rank summarizes the included Ranks. You can also view each symbol’s own Rank.

Why compare?
SPY can look oversold on its own while other stocks look oversold relative to SPY. These readings describe different things, so they can both be useful.
TanHef Ranks · SPY
A negative Rank suggests SPY is stretched downward (oversold). This reading does not compare SPY with another stock.
Ranks Screener · SPY/NVDA
SPY/NVDA means SPY's price divided by Nvidia's price. A positive Rank suggests SPY is stretched upward relative to Nvidia, or Nvidia downward relative to SPY. A negative Rank suggests the opposite.
SPY's own price and its relative comparisons can tell different stories. Gold column A marks the same candle in all three panes.
At A (Apr 7, 04:00 UTC): SPY Rank −7, with an oversold Extreme. The Screener's Total Rank is +0.71: a small positive relative summary, not an Extreme.

Earlier SPY candles provide context. Seven stock lines begin at A, all at 0%. Right-side changes match the supplied TradingView view.
SPY's own-price Rank. This example shows the green triangle only at its deepest reading, −7 at A.
The table is fixed at A: two positive comparisons, five neutral. Their average is +0.71, shown in the Total Rank plot on the same Rank scale.

These percentages reproduce the supplied TradingView view. SPY uses its open at A ($488.50); the seven stock lines use their own closes at A. Different price fields are used, so these labels are not a uniform close-to-close performance comparison. This selected example does not establish how often the readings succeed.
30 consecutive native candles, from April 2, 2025 at 20:00 to April 9 at 16:00 UTC (candle-open times). Earlier SPY candles and indicator readings provide context; A is the price-reference candle, not the first visible candle. The source export flags −6 on April 7 at 00:00 UTC and −7 at 04:00 UTC. For visual focus, only the −7 triangle is drawn in this example. SPY is shown at 4 hours with the 24H session. Price and plotted indicator readings come directly from the chart export. The seven table rows were retrieved at A using an unchanged copy of the published Screener calculation, with Chart Rank and Total checked against all 30 exported candles. For this configuration, Total Rank is the average of the seven signed Ranks; other settings can change that calculation. The table is frozen at A, not at the final candle.
Chart price change is (final close ÷ reference price at A − 1) × 100. These are price changes, not trade returns; fees and dividends are not included. Values are rounded only for labels.
The comparison helps you look beyond whether SPY itself is oversold. It describes relative price conditions, not which company is cheaper by valuation or which stock will outperform.
With SPY compared against a seven-stock list, SPY/All labels the Total Rank summary of the seven separate ratios. It is not SPY divided by a single basket price. A positive Total Rank does not mean every ratio is positive. Check the individual rows too.
To compare with your own chart, use Chart/List. To keep SPY fixed when you change charts, use Input/List with AMEX:SPY. How Total Rank is calculated.
Individual-symbol example

A ticker is a short code such as AAPL for Apple. NASDAQ: identifies the exchange.
Open a NASDAQ:AAPL chart at 4 hours and add TanHef Ranks Screener. In its settings, set Ticker Source to 🔸Text and Auto Pair to List(none). Paste these entries into List up to 40 tickers (PREFIX:TICKER):
NASDAQ:AAPL
NASDAQ:MSFT
NASDAQ:NVDAYou should see three individual stock entries, not pairs such as AAPL/NVDA. Your live Rank values may differ from the illustration below.
In this illustration, Nvidia's −2 is a Small oversold-side reading. Apple's +4 is a Medium overbought-side reading. Microsoft is neutral at 0.
| Stock | Rank | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| AAPL | +4 | Medium overbought |
| MSFT | 0 | Neutral |
| NVDA | −2 | Small oversold |
Total Rank is the list summary, not another stock. With the default Mean, these three example readings average to about +0.7.
Type NASDAQ:NVDA into TradingView's symbol search and add TanHef Ranks. Review price above and Rank bars below. Use the same timeframe, session, and calculation settings when comparing readings. Even with matching settings, different loaded history can change Ranks, occurrence counts, and Extreme markers.
A Screener row does not open a chart automatically. A Rank identifies a condition to inspect, not an instruction to buy or sell.
Return to your original Screener chart and follow the Screener alert setup. The example watches each entry for +4 or higher or −4 or lower at chart bar close. Recreate alerts after changing your list or settings.
List settings
Use List(none) to review individual stocks, indices, cryptocurrencies, or formulas. A shared comparison ticker is optional.
Chart/List compares the chart symbol with every list entry. The common symbol follows when you change charts.
Input/List uses a ticker you choose for every comparison. List/Chart and List/Input reverse the pair order.
Total Rank combines included readings so you can review the list alongside individual rows. By default, it is their simple average.
Build a list of tickers or ticker formulas. Each requested entry uses one of the 40 available requests.
Sorting helps you review visible results; alerts watch your chosen conditions. Alert messages keep the original input order.

Understanding Total Rank
By default, Total Rank uses Mean, a simple average of the included readings. The five readings in the configuration example above average to +0.4.
With the default average, positive and negative Ranks can offset each other. A Total Rank near zero does not mean every entry is neutral.
You can customize the summary. Settings apply Filter, then Cap, then Center; the defaults are No Filter, No Cap, and Mean. These settings do not change each entry's displayed Rank.
Removes selected signed Rank values from the calculation.
Limits large Rank values that remain without removing them.
Chooses how the remaining adjusted values are combined. Mean uses their simple average.
Historical context
This table groups historical Total Rank results into signed ranges. It does not show separate occurrence counts for each requested ticker or ticker formula.
Example values only. Not live market data or a forecast.
Important alert behavior
The on-chart list can be sorted, but alert messages keep the original input order. Recreate existing TradingView alerts after changing the script, list, or settings. Set up Screener alerts.
