Interactive SAR Stop-Loss.
Choose the start of a Parabolic SAR trailing-stop illustration and review optional target and alert conditions.
Overview
Set the SAR start instead of inheriting chart history.
Standard Parabolic SAR follows a calculation that can switch above or below price as the trend changes. This interactive version lets you click where its stop illustration should begin. For a long setup, start below price; for a short setup, start above. Drag the start marker or edit its time and price to refine the setup.
The plot is a chart study, not an actual broker-managed stop.
First-bar source
The first SAR value matters.
The first plotted value can be initialized using a SAR calculation, the clicked price, or an ATR-derived level. The published script uses an ATR-based initial position by default. Different starting methods can lead to different subsequent SAR paths, including an immediate side-switch on the next bar under some conditions.
The SAR start, increment, and maximum settings also affect how quickly the stop moves.
Target and alerts
Follow each condition separately.
An optional fixed profit target can be displayed until its condition is met. The SAR path may continue after the target is reached and stop only when the SAR stop condition is hit. You can enable alerts for the stop or target and customize their messages with chart values and selected inputs.
A plotted stop or alert cannot guarantee a real fill at that level. Check the selected wick-versus-close trigger and the chart timeframe when reviewing a past example.
