MTF MACD (PPO).

Overview

Compare momentum across timeframes.

This indicator shows one to five MACD or Percentage Price Oscillator (PPO) readings together. MACD compares two price averages using their absolute difference; PPO expresses that difference as a percentage, making its scale more comparable across differently priced assets. Labels identify each selected timeframe and reading.

Agreement across timeframes can provide useful context, but it is not proof of a profitable entry.

Chart readings

Lines, histograms, and crosses.

Each timeframe can show its MACD/PPO line, signal line, and histogram. Optional colouring can reflect a line cross, histogram direction, a SuperTrend reading, or price’s relationship with an EMA. Cross markers distinguish an actual line cross from a potential next-bar cross based on a simple projection of the latest change.

Best-fit scaling can resize the lines and histogram to share visual space. Check the actual values before comparing heights across differently scaled rows.

Additional analysis

Divergences and combined criteria.

The script can mark regular and hidden bullish or bearish divergence on the MACD line. It also offers an optional multi-condition background signal based on selected crosses, histogram direction, trend filters, timeframes, and an additional leading-indicator line. Alerts can watch the chosen combined condition.

Timeframe caution

Higher-timeframe values can develop.

Values from a higher timeframe can change until that candle closes. The publication describes using chart-timeframe period multipliers as an alternative to direct higher-timeframe requests when you want more stable historical comparisons, while noting that results may differ slightly. Record which method you use before comparing signals or testing a rule.
