Overview

Review a configured list of Ranks.

TanHef Ranks Screener is an invite-only TradingView indicator for a list of individual tickers, ticker formulas, or comparisons. List mode evaluates entries on their own. Comparison modes pair the current chart symbol or a selected ticker with the list; pair order can be reversed. Total Rank summarizes the included readings.

Negative Ranks describe oversold-side conditions, positive Ranks describe overbought-side conditions, and Rank 0 is neutral. A value farther from zero represents a stronger and generally more selective condition, not a prediction of the next move.

The Screener reviews the entries you configure. It does not scan every market or automatically tell you what to buy or sell.

Configuration

Choose what each row represents.

  • List: evaluate each configured entry as supplied, without a shared comparison ticker.
  • Chart/List: compare the current chart symbol with each list entry. The common side follows when the chart symbol changes.
  • List/Chart: compare each list entry with the chart symbol, reversing the pair order.
  • Input/List: compare a selected input symbol with each list entry.
  • List/Input: compare each list entry with a selected input symbol.

The three-stock example begins in List mode so each row is an individual stock before adding a comparison.

Relative readings

A pair Rank belongs to the ratio.

For example, SPY/NVDA means SPY’s price divided by NVDA’s price. Its Rank describes that ratio, not SPY’s or NVDA’s individual Rank. A positive Rank describes an overbought-side condition in the ratio; a negative Rank describes an oversold-side condition. Neither is an instruction to buy one ticker and sell the other.

Changing pair order changes the formula being reviewed. For a faithful comparison, check the exact symbols, exchange prefixes, timeframe, session, settings, and available data. See the selected SPY comparison example.

Inputs and display

Build and review your list.

The Screener supports up to 40 requested tickers or ticker formulas. A single ticker and a pair formula each count as one request. Paste a comma-, space-, semicolon-, apostrophe-, or line-separated text list; use individual symbol inputs; or combine the two methods. Exchange prefixes such as NASDAQ: or NYSE: help avoid symbol mismatches.

Choose a built-in preset under Ticker Source for a ready-made group, or use a custom list. See the presets and starter lists.

Display sorting can organize visible rows by the chosen field. It does not change the original input order used in alert messages. Available history and formula support vary by symbol, feed, session, and TradingView data availability. Review the actual rows and Bar Coverage before interpreting a list.

TradingView Pine Screener is suited to broader discovery and filtering across compatible individual symbols. TanHef Ranks Screener focuses on your configured list, including relative formulas, Total Rank, loaded-history context, and on-chart alerts. Read the setup and settings reference.

List summary

Total Rank combines included readings.

By default, Total Rank uses Mean, a simple average of the included Ranks. Optional settings change the summary in this order:

  1. Filter removes selected signed Rank values from the calculation.
  2. Cap limits extreme values that remain without removing them.
  3. Center combines the remaining adjusted values into one Total Rank.

The defaults are No Filter, No Cap, and Mean. The selected settings, eligible list, and available data all affect the result. They do not change the Rank displayed for each individual entry. Once customized, Total Rank is not necessarily a simple average, and it is never a forecast or probability.

Context and alerts

Know what history and timing affect.

Occurrence displays and Bar Coverage describe the history available to the calculation. Each requested entry and Total Rank can track loaded-history Extremes. Different chart context, TradingView plan, symbol data, session, timeframe, settings, or revised data can change older counts and Extreme comparisons.

Events and alerts can monitor qualifying individual or Total Rank conditions. Values on an open bar may update as inputs change, so choose alert frequency with that behavior in mind. Visual sorting does not reorder alert messages; they preserve the original input order.

Existing TradingView alerts retain the script version and settings captured when they were created. Recreate them after updating the script or changing its configuration. Read more about alert setup.

Limitations

Use the Screener as analysis, not a forecast.

Ranks identify configured overbought- and oversold-side conditions. They do not confirm a reversal, provide an automatic entry or exit, or guarantee a result. Occurrences are not win rates. Larger absolute Ranks are generally more selective, not necessarily more accurate.

The Screener evaluates only eligible entries and history available to its active instance. A pair Rank is not the same as either ticker’s own Rank. Total Rank summarizes the included values under the selected settings and should be read alongside its component rows.

TanHef Ranks Screener and TanHef Ranks are provided together under the current TanHef access package. Ranks provides the corresponding single-chart and multi-timeframe workflow.
